A smoke free policy in the workplace would have a positive impact on many employees. The U.S. Surgeon General determined that implementing a 100 percent smoke free policy in all United States workplaces would result in 1.3 million smokers quitting, 950 million fewer packs of cigarettes smoked, and $49 million in direct medical cost savings would be realized, all within one year. The sooner we enact smoke free policies, the sooner we can reap benefits.
